Japan Education Pathways Network
Overview
The Japan Education Pathways Network was founded in 2022 by JICUF and Pathways Japan to bring together higher education institutions, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders to create and expand education pathways in Japan. Education pathways are programs that allow refugees to travel from their country of asylum to a third country to pursue education and receive protection.
As of April 2024, it has 23 member institutions. The Network meets online every two months and in person twice a year to discuss best practices and common challenges in managing education pathways programs. It also regularly hosts events for the refugee students to help them network with each other and gain information about important issues like their legal status, employment, and mental health.
